Use it all the time for business and pleasure! It’s quick and easy and I love it!

I’m a collector. Not for gain, but for pleasure. I love to collect brief articles, photos, and th like for items that I am interested in. This program suits me to a “tee.” I also write a hobby specific newsletter. We editors routinely swap our newsletter around for the benefit and use of other hobby specific editors. There are snap shots that are often included that we are free to use if desired. This Snagit program allows me to quickly capture the information and insert into my newsletter. Saves loads of time. And if you are conscious of copyright laws, it can make your life more enjoyable as well.

.. it was because I heard that it could capture scrolling windows, essential for my web development project. It works on PC, but I simply cannot get it to work on a Mac. Very disappointed.

I frequently use Snagit on both the Windows and Mac platforms, so I have expereince with both software configurations. As other reviewers hint, the Mac configuration is unique from the Windows software, and there are functional differences. BUT, the heart of the functionality and the usefulness transcends the differences. From a business persepctive, Snagit can transform communication. My company gladly puchases Snagit for any user that wants it, and once an employee witness how quickly information can be exchanged, they want it. Need to communicate with a person who understands better through visualization? Snag a screen shot of the diagram you are working on. Snag a screen shot of the software bug. Snag a video clip of the software bug in action. Snag a screen shot of a old graphic and mock up a new one for a graphic artist. The ability to communicate your business need becomes exponentially easier. Don’t just tell the client or the vendor, show them. Make fast edits. Make corrections. Eliminate extranious words from images. Eliminate visual noise. Before you know it, you will be Snaging images and videos a dozen times a day and receiving just as many back. Since Snagit works with, and exports to, many image file types, you can seamlessly work with common image file types with Acrobat, Office, Pages, email, Keynote, etc. From a home perspective, Snagit will do the same things you do for business. Use it to capture ideas and quickly export it to email or social media. Intuitive, powerful controls (like elimiating background colors, image duplication (for effect), add text, stamps, call-outs, etc. Draw maps on satelite images to show how people can find the location of a gathering. Illustrate where you want to put the garden in the backyard. Visualize the location of landscaping in front of your house. You will find tons of ways to leverage the software to make your communication easier and more powerful. I think the Windows version is slightly better than the Mac version, but I learned on the Windows version before adding the Mac software version--so that may bias my mind toward the initial familiarity of the Windows version. In any case, I recommend it as an effective tool for enhancing your business and home communication suites.

I’ve used Snagit from the very first versino on Windows. I finally broke down and purchased this version via the app store as my previous version wouldn’t work with OSX Yosemite. This version doesn’t have the ONE feature that was the ONLY reason to purchase Snagit… scrolling capture of application windows. (NOT a BROWSER) Why they left that off is beyond me as you can purchase a version on thier website that DOES have scrolling capture. I juse wasted $50 bucks and I’m MAD!

not matter what i do it absolutely will NOT save ANY video capture. so frustrating!!!!!!!

I’ve been using Snagit for around five years. In general, I think the Window’s version is more intuitive and easy to use than on the Mac side, but both are excellent.

Because I just hate any app, program, video, etc that constantly menaces you to rate it. The app works just fine other than it’s insecurity.

I wish I had bought this sooner. I often have to get screen shots for tutorials. Now that I have this, adding accent arrows and other annotations is much easier than in Preview, and with better quality. I also can do videos, upload easily to Google, and share a link with my target audience. Also, I can record just a portion of my screen very easily, so that I can have a script on the side using Notepad, and do the clicking within the target window on the left. I also can have a “intro slide” by creating a Word file that fits within the target window, and just click back and forth between the two applications… the clicks are not seen as they are outside of the target window. It worked seamlessly with my plug-n-play USB Samson GoMic Microphone… auto-recognized it. My only wish is that the shorter goo.gl link was stored somewhere… when I go to google and look, the file has a big long link. The short link automatically goes to your clipboard, but I have accidentally over-written it when copy-pasting other items while waiting on the upload. There is a little blue bar that tells you the progress, so now I know to watch and quit copying stuff when the blue bar is getting full. OVERALL, LOVE THIS APP. WORTH THE MONEY.

I spent 49.95 on this worthless software because it was supposed to capture scrolling screens. It does not. A complete waste of money.

So easy to use. . . love the ease of “capture” and ease of using boxes and arrows to highlight areas of the screen capture needed to instruct others via email. Best capture tool on the market in my opinion!

I bought Snagit version 3.30 to replace Snapz Pro X which I really liked. Unfortunately Ambrosia did not upgrade their product for over a year forcing me to explore my options. Now I actually like Snagit better. It easily allows you to grab sound and video off the desktop and take pics of any size using its intuitive interface. You can easily edit video length and assign a name to your photo or video. My only complaint is that on a mac book pro, it gives an error message when opening the app as a startup item.It does the same for its help file. I look forward to this minor bug getting fixed as the product is really useful and user friendly.

Cannot live with out it. Straightforward in its purpose. Plenty of features to suit power users. I will add they have done a nice little library of tutorials to help educate on how to extract all the capability. They are quite good and you can be highly effective quickly. 3/25/15 Follow up to this previous rating. Love it. Use it daily. I continue to find applications. Should be standard application. No disappointments

This is the best screen capture, manipulation, and annotation tool ever! Totally worth every penny.

This app went from good to great. A few of the reasons: Cleaner and leaner interface No more dock/menu bar icon, the app runs in the background! Much improved screen selection mode More capture types with a clean interface to easily select them Great shortcuts for video/stills/ etc. improved snagit editor The scroll capture still works perfectly fine, so ignore the people who can’t read directions. Just drag the URL from your browser onto the capture tool and you are done. It would be nice to set a default capture mode so you didn’t have to select “video or still” every time, but honestly i like the option how it is now. Make this an option, and it should please the haters. ONE BUG: It’ won’t launch properly on reboots or startup, and throws an error. So you have to launch it manually after every restart.

Off the charts great, i use it every day…the flexability of the program allows you to take snapshots of your screen, via video and or still, annotate it with everything from bubbles to highlights and then easily copy and paste, or email instantly… i give this program a 10 star rating…it as good as it gets! Its become the only duplication tool i use

This is much better than the built in tools and had I not used the windows version for many years I would have given it a higer rating. It’s just not as good as the windows version.

I switched to this app after my previous program of the same type was no longer being supported. I wish I had changed much sooner: I have been amazed at all the features and possibilities Snagit has to offer. It is an exceptionally valuable app and well worth its cost. I highly recommend it!

This is an extremely useful program to record bugs or issues with sofware. We use both the video and screen cap features extensively.
